Maine Innovation Dollar Up Next For 2024 Releases

The American Innovation $1 Coin Program from the United States Mint is continuing today with the third release in the 2024 series. Available in 25-coin rolls and 100-coin bags from Philadelphia and Denver beginning at 12pm EST, Maine will be the next state honored on the coin.

The program began in 2018 with an introductory coin and is following up with four coins per year. The multi-year series aims to honor innovation and innovators for each of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and the five United States territories (Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, U.S. Virgin Islands, and Northern Mariana Islands). Illinois, Alabama, Maine, and Missouri are the four honorees for 2024.

Depicted on the reverse of the coin is a profile portrait of Dr. Bernard Lown, the original developer of the direct current defibrillator for cardiac resuscitation.
